1st day - Cogne
Free arrival in Cogne in the Aosta Valley, accommodation in hotel and, depending on the arrival time, available time for a stroll in the characteristic village. In the evening, meeting with your guide for the presentation of the trek and an opportunity for a welcome drink, typical dinner. Dinner and overnight stay
First stage: Valnontey (1,667 m) – V. Sella Refuge (2,588 m) – Col lauson (3,296 m) – Eaux Rousses (1,666 m) – Tetra Lyre Refuge (1991 m)
Difference in height: approx. 1650 m uphill / approx. 1,630 m downhill. Journey time: 7 hours 45 min. ca
Dinner and cabin overnight stay
Meeting with the guide, transfer by private vehicle to Valnontey, the “Door” of the Gran Paradiso National Park. Beginning of the trek to the Sella refuge, once the hunting destination of King Vittorio Emanuele II of Savoy, due to the abundance of ibex and chamois, now a destination for passionate hikers. Ascent to Col Lauson 3,296 m (the highest of the entire Alta Via of the Aosta Valley), habitat frequented by numerous and precious alpine ibex. Then descent through the long and enchanting Levionaz valley.
Second stage: Tetra Lyre Refuge (1,991 mt) – Croix de la Roley (2,313 mt) – Col Manteau (2,789 mt) – Djouan Lakes (2,516 mt) – Col Entrelor (3,007 mt) – Marmotte Refuge (Alpe Entrelor, 2,142 mt )
Difference in height: approx. 1300 m uphill / approx. 870 m downhill. Travel time: 7 hours 30 mins approx.
Dinner and cabin overnight stay
The part of the itinerary between the Croix de la Rolley and the Col Manteau offers enchanting panoramic views of the Grivola (3,969 m) and the summit of Gran Paradiso (4,061 m). The lakes of Djouan, which we will come across just beyond the hill, they really deserve a break to contemplate the beauty of the nature that surrounds us. The Colle Entrelor will then allow us to descend to the Marmotte Refuge (so called due to the steady and massive presence of friendly rodents).
Third stage: Marmotte Refuge (2,142 mt) – Rhêmes-Notre-Dame (1,723 mt) – Benevolo Refuge (2,287 mt) – Goletta Lake (2,699 mt) – Benevolo Refuge (2,287 mt)
Difference in height: approx. + 980 m / – approx. 430 m Travel time: 6 hours 30 mins / 7 hours approx.
Dinner and cabin overnight stay
Pleasant and relaxing descent from the Marmotte refuge and approach to the Benevolo Refuge with a great view of the bold face of the Granta Parey (3,387 m). Ascent to Lake Goletta, from whose banks there is a breathtaking view of the glacier by the above same name. Then descend again to the Benevolo.
5th day - Aosta
Fourth stage: Benevolo Refuge (2,287 mt) – Col Rosset (3,025 mt) – Rosset Lake (2,701 mt) – Savoia Refuge (2,533 mt) – Piano del Nivolet (2,400 mt) – Pont Valsavarenche (1,850 mt). At the end of the trek, transfer to Aosta, hotel accommodation.
Difference in altitude: approx. +850 m / – approx. 1200 m Travel time: 7 hours 30 mins. 8 hours approx.
Third and last pass over 3,000 m to cross during our fabulous trekking; the descent from Col Rosset will then allow us to skirt the lake by the same name and, further downstream, the Nivolet lakes in the immediate vicinity of the Savoia Refuge. Difficulty: intermediate, hiking trails (E), however characterized by the presence, in some sections, of exposed parts or with high slopes suitable for expert hikers (EE); good physical preparation is therefore required. Average height differences of the treks between 850-1,650 m.
Duration: these are to be considered with a certain approximation, normally, net of breaks and depending on the rhythm and physical conditions of the participants.
Min age 16 years: in relation to physical preparation, younger children can also be admitted as long as they have good training and are used to walking uphill in the mountains. Participants under the age of 18 must be accompanied throughout the trek by at least one parent.
Clothing: it is not required, but technical clothing is recommended; the use of: hiking boots, shorts and t-shirt, sweater or fleece, light windbreaker, sunglasses, hat, backpack, water bottle, sunscreen, sleeping bag or sleeping bag is required. It is advisable to use: long trousers, waterproof trousers and shell (K-way) in case of adverse weather conditions. All information will still be provided with the travel documents. We suggest you bring your camera.
Luggage: in relation to the type of itinerary, it is not possible to transport luggage during the trek. Luggage, therefore, will be left in storage at the arrival hotel and transferred by the organization to the hotel on the last day.
