A striking path through villages, woods and vineyards, begins with a visit to the Pilate Castle in Nus to continue with that of Fénis, a splendid example of medieval architecture. Of interest, a visit to the Aosta Valley Craft Museum (M.A.V). We continue our journey along the Dora Baltea to enter the small village of Chambave, where an excellent and renowned “Passito” wine comes to life. On the way also the castle of Cly, to get to Saint Vincent.

Packed lunch. Dinner and overnight

The journey continues along the Roman road of the Gauls, where the evocative ruins of the Castle of Saint Germain and Chenal will frame our journey to reach Verrès. Here, in addition to the castle of the same name, there is the Prevostura di Saint-Gilles dating back to the 10th century. with its chapel, one of the few examples of the Gothic style in the Aosta Valley. In the immediate vicinity, the magnificent Castello di Issogne, of particular interest are the frescoes, the decorated coffered ceilings, the pomegranate fountain.

From Verrès to Pont Saint Martin the route becomes even more gluttonous for cultural ideas. In Arnad the Romanesque church of San Martino and the exterior of the Valleise castle are worth a visit, to continue and cross the characteristic village of Bard with its imposing Fort, a wonderful example of military architecture. Today completely renovated, it houses the “Museum of the Alps” visited by hundreds of thousands of people every year.

We continue the journey, towards Donnas where we meet a perfectly preserved stretch of the Roman road, to reach Pont-Saint-Martin, where there is a monumental Roman bridge, unique in size and state of conservation, here our trekking ends.
